According to the national Weather Service, “A weak, mostly moderate north-northwest wind will blow along the Struma valley and in Eastern Bulgaria.” While this refers to a specific region internationally, similar wind patterns can be expected in comparable mountainous areas within the US. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 1° to 6° Fahrenheit, with slightly lower temperatures expected in some higher-elevation areas.
Mountainous Regions Brace for Snow
Mountainous areas in central and eastern regions will experience cloudy conditions with snowfall. Western mountain ranges will see some clearing. Strong to gusty northeast winds are anticipated.Temperatures at 1200 meters will hover around 0° Celsius (32° Fahrenheit), while at 2000 meters, temperatures will dip to approximately -6° Celsius (21.2° Fahrenheit).

Coastal areas will see mostly cloudy skies with light snow possible, primarily along the northern coast before noon. Expect temperatures between 3° and 6° Celsius (37.4° and 42.8° Fahrenheit). Seawater temperatures will remain around 9° to 10° Celsius (48.2° to 50° fahrenheit), with sea conditions at 3 to 4 points.

By Sunday, western and central regions can anticipate sunny and calm conditions. Eastern areas will see a weakening of the northerly winds, though cloud cover will persist. Maximum temperatures will reach between 2° and 7° Celsius (35.6° and 44.6° Fahrenheit). The forecast for the end of the year and the beginning of the new year calls for mostly sunny skies nationwide, with a light westerly wind contributing to a rapid warming trend.While Monday morning will remain relatively cold, minimum temperatures will rise substantially from Tuesday onward, with daytime highs reaching 10° to 15° Celsius (50° to 59° Fahrenheit) by Wednesday. Thursday and Friday may see some increased cloud cover, but the southwest winds will maintain relatively warm temperatures for early January.
