A Chinese military scientist has been accused of applying for a patent for COVID-19 vaccine before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the COVID-19 pandemic status. However, a few weeks after that he died mysteriously.
The scientist known as Yusen Zhou works for the People’s Liberation Army and filed a patent document on behalf of a Chinese political party on February 24, 2020.
The first case of COVID-19 was first reported in Wuhan in December 2019, while WHO had not declared the outbreak a pandemic until March 11, 2020.
This means that the patent for the vaccine was filed not long after China recognized the existence of human-to-human transmission of COVID-19, and two weeks before the pandemic was officially announced.
“This is something we haven’t seen before, raising the question of whether this (vaccine) work might have started much earlier,” said Professor Nikolai Petrovsky of Flinders University. The Sun, Tuesday (8/6/2021).
It is known that Zhou is closely related to the scientists at Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), including Shi Zhengli who was dubbed the ‘bat woman’. However, Zhou died mysteriously in May 2020, less than 3 months after he applied for a patent for the vaccine.
According to The New York Post, Zhou’s death was only reported in one Chinese media report. In fact, Zhou is one of the leading scientists in the country.
Zhou is also known to have strong ties to the United States and conducts postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The close relationship between the two supports US intelligence released in January that said the Wuhan laboratory was carrying out covert military activity.
“Although WIV presents itself as a civilian agency, the United States has determined that WIV has collaborated on classified publications and projects with the Chinese military,” the intelligence said, according to NYPost.
