Warendorf/Warendorf district. With “WhatsApp scam” money

On Monday, March 28, 2022, a senior citizen in Warendorf fell for the “WhatsApp scam” and transferred money to a scammer. Around noon, the woman received a message from her supposed daughter via messenger. In it, the scammer asked for money because she was in need. The Warendorfer complied with this request. In the course of the afternoon, the scam was revealed. In another case, a woman who received a similar message responded correctly. In this case, the supposed child pretended to have problems with the phone’s settings. Therefore, it could not carry out two important transfers and asked the Warendorfer to carry them out. She became suspicious and did not comply with the request.

You receive a message from a relative via a messenger? A relative asks for money because of an emergency or to pay bills by bank transfer because there is a problem with the cell phone? Then you should be particularly suspicious and under no circumstances comply with the request! Contact the sender personally – using the contact details you know!
