Hamburg. A large cloud of smoke can be seen over Hamburg Neuenfelde. The fire brigade raised its third alarm.

So far it has been assumed that there was purely material damage. However, two residential buildings are said to have been evacuated for safety reasons. The fire department also warns of the heavy smoke development.

Also the federal disaster warning app “NINA” triggered the alarm: “Smoke gases from a fire can endanger you in the Hamburg-Finkenwerder Nincop area. The cloud of smoke is moving towards the north-west.” The following regions are affected: Nincop, Cranz, parts of the southern bank of the Elbe and parts north of the Elbe in the Wedel area.

The emergency app recommends avoiding the area around the Im Alten Nincop warehouse and also closing windows and doors and, if possible, switching off ventilation and air conditioning to prevent smoke from entering living spaces.

Cause of fire unclear – warehouse for fruit and pellets

Why the fire broke out is currently completely unclear. According to agency information, the flames have already spread to 1,000 square meters. The reason for this could be, among other things, that pellets were said to have been stored in the burning hall. In addition, a photovoltaic system was also affected.
