A 54-year-old warehouse worker on Staten Island was repeatedly hit in the head with a glass bottle by a suspected shoplifter, New York City Police said. The suspect then began to choke him unconscious and took $2,000 from the cash register, authorities added.
According to the police, the alleged attacker entered the store Victory Boulevard around 5:00 am on Tuesday and began beating the worker. The suspect first hit him several times with the bottle, then threw him to the ground and strangled him until he passed out, she said.
The man did not regain consciousness until the suspect left. He sought help and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for head lacerations.
Anyone with information on him is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-57-CLIP.
