The descendants of Céline, whose daughter renounced the inheritance in 1961, now obtain the right to co-exercise the moral rights over her work. “Marianne” reveals an incredible behind-the-scenes drama of a crazy succession. At the origin of this twist, the trunk found in the summer of 2021… and its family documents.
A dramatic twist in the Célinian universe. Excluded from any inheritance since 1961 and the death of Céline, eight of her direct descendants, two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, obtain the right to exercise… moral rights over the work of their ancestor. From now on, we will have to reckon with the Céline family, the great forgotten one in official history, for any new publication, or republication!
This change is the result of a discreet standoff with the two beneficiaries of Lucette Destouches, the widow Céline: the lawyer François Gibault, 92 years old, and Véronique Robert-Chovin, 72 years old. According to our information, the latter two signed a protocol with the family this summer. They agree to share the moral rights of the writer until their death. Then, only the direct descendants of Louis-Ferdinand Destouches will be custodians.
