Russia, regional deputy on trial: disputed Putin with spaghetti ears

The Deputy Chairman of the Duma of the Russian region of Samara, the exponent of the Communist Party, Mikhail Abdalkin, will be tried on charges of having discredited the military forces, for which he risks a fine of up to the equivalent of 25,000 dollars, for having taken around Vladimir Putin. He posted a video on Youtube in which he witnesses the recent speech on the state of the nation by the President sitting at his desk in front of a computer, with spaghetti on his ears, in a clear reference to the famous Russian saying “put spaghetti on someone’s ears” to mean “lie to a person”, while expressing “full support” for the President’s “great performance” and nodding repeatedly. His trial will begin on Tuesday in the Novokuibyshevsk court. The Communist Party of Russia has distanced itself from Abdalkin.
In the video clip released by Abdalkin, Putin, who gave his speech three days after the anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, denounces that the West “has no honour, trust and decency”. “In the long centuries of colonialism, order and hegemony, they have gotten used to being able to do anything. They have gotten used to dividing the whole world. And they also make fun of their citizens by talking about peace and respecting the resolutions of the Security Council of the ‘UN on Donbass’.
