War danger sirens reportedly sounded in Lviv, Ukraine, on Friday (25/2). This city in western Ukraine was originally considered the safest because Russia invaded from the east.
A witness confirmed to Reuters that the war sirens sounded early Friday.
Lviv itself currently houses a number of temporary operational offices for the embassies of a number of countries. They moved the embassy to Lviv because it was considered the safest.
The city is located in western Ukraine, which borders directly with Poland. When war broke out on Thursday (24/2), many Ukrainians fled to Poland via Lviv.
With this report of sirens in Lviv, it means that there is a possibility that Russian troops are approaching west of Ukraine. If true, Russia has completely surrounded Ukraine.
The war itself raged after Russian President Vladimir Putin officially ordered a military operation in Donbas, an area in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Moscow separatists, on Thursday.
Later, however, Ukraine reported that it was being attacked from three sides, namely Belarus in the north, the border with Russia in the east, and Crimea in the south.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenksy, reported that 137 people died as a result of Russian strikes during the first day of the invasion.
To this day, the war is still raging. Russian troops continued to maneuver, while the Ukrainian military retaliated in self-defense.
