It is well known that “Mortal Kombat 2” is to come. At the end of “Mortal Kombat” the sequel is clearly teased. We also know that stars like “Sub-Zero” Joe Taslim have contracts for multiple films. Jax actor Mehcad Brooks also told us in an interview that he would like to do not only “Mortal Kombat 2”, but also “Mortal Kombat 3” and even “Mortal Kombat 4”. In the footsteps of Marvel
But we believe that the makers still bet on a tournament first. After all, the reactions of many fans show that this is exactly what they finally want to see.
As Sebastian explains in his video, there are also indications that speak precisely for this. Those responsible, who keep referring to Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, seem to have a plan.
After this, “Mortal Kombat” could become a trilogy: The first film takes place before the tournament, “Mortal Kombat 2” is then the tournament and a third part deals with the effects of this. “The games did a really great job of finding clever ways to get characters back. They manifest themselves anew, develop further, transform or change. Each character has its own revenant.
We sure won’t do a slacker move and everyone magically comes back, but it just gave us the freedom to do what we wanted. Because if a character should be there again in a sequel, then they can come back. “
