Russia’s invasion of Ukraine shook the whole world and, inevitably, Ukrainian citizens in particular, including those residing abroad who are worried about their compatriots. Among these there are many footballers who, in recent days, have not stopped sending messages against the war. Today, on the occasion of Everton-Manchester City, two of them met on the pitch and let themselves go to an exciting hug and full of hopes that all this will end soon: it is about Oleksandr Zinchenko and Vitaliy Mykolenko, opponents in the 90 minutes but today more united than ever to face and overcome fears. But it was all Goodison Park, including teammates and fans, to reserve a tribute and its closeness to the Ukrainian people. Upon entering the pitch, the City players came out of the tunnel with a shirt for Ukraine and the words ‘No War’, while the Everton players showed up on the pitch wrapped in yellow-blue flags. Then the audience joined and displayed a banner and cheered for several minutes: a moment so moving that Zinchenko could not hold back the tears.
