War in Ukraine: Ukrainian forces hold positions in Russia’s Kursk region –

Russian forces attempted to push Ukrainian troops out of their positions in the Russian border region of Kursk, but Ukrainian forces are holding their positions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this evening.

“Regarding the operation in Kursk, Russia tried to push our forces out of their positions, but we are holding the established lines,” Zelensky said in his daily evening video message since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced Friday that Russian forces have recaptured two villages in Kursk, where Ukrainian troops launched a massive invasion in August.

Zelensky acknowledged that the Ukrainian advance on Kursk was intended to keep Russian troops away from front-line positions in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have been making steady territorial gains in recent months.

The Ukrainian president acknowledged that in the Ukrainian provinces of Donetsk and Zaporizhia, which are partially occupied by Russian forces, “there are very difficult conditions, with harsh hostile actions. But the durability of our units is critical. It all depends on our resilience.”
