CONTEXT:
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to start invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine. Putin claimed that NATO was going to use Ukraine as a springboard for aggression against Russia, although there was no evidence for these claims. Ukraine believes that Putin’s real goal is to destroy Ukraine’s statehood and bring the territory under Moscow’s control.
At the beginning of autumn, in the counterattack of Ukraine freed from the occupiers more territory than Russia had managed to capture since early April. In mid-October, Ukrainian forces succeeded approach the city of Khersonwhich the occupying authorities have decided to leave.
On October 10, Russia with missiles carried out massive attacks Ukrainian cities by shelling civil infrastructure facilities and urban residential areas. Efforts to destroy Ukraine’s energy supply infrastructure continued even after that.
