Why is the world slower to react?
A lack of focus on issues of war has appeared not only in the West, but also in some places in Ukraine itself. If Ukrainians felt this themselves, then one can only imagine what is happening in Western countries, given that life is in full swing there.
“Life is different there, and it is clear that they are unfocused on other problems: a war has appeared in Israel, now a war may appear in Venezuela. It seems to me that we need to send our military to diplomatic missions, especially to Republican states, so that they remind them of the war. Such a polite reminder,” emphasized Nikolai Davidyuk.
Conflict between Venezuela and Ghana
On December 4, 2023, a referendum on territorial claims to Guyana was held in Venezuela. Venezuela claims part of Guyana’s territory in the Essequibe River region. It is already known that 95% of referendum participants supported the annexation of the disputed territory of Essequiba to the country.
The conflict between the countries began in 1811. Then Venezuela declared its independence and that Essequibo belonged to its territory. Guyana was under British rule at the time, and an arbitration court in 1899 placed the disputed territory under British rule.
Venezuela’s claims to the region were renewed recently when oil and gas deposits were discovered there.
American historian Timothy Snyder recently said in an interview that the West has no right to get tired of the war in Ukraine. Nikolai Davidyuk agrees with this, noting that the right to fatigue will entail the transition of the war to their territory.

Russia puts a spoke in the wheels
At the same time, it cannot be said that the West has stopped or will stop supporting Ukraine.
Strategically, nothing has changed: they are with us. It’s just that decisions are harder, just as some things have become harder for us. But I think that Putin also has an understanding. He will give money and put spokes in our wheels,
– the political scientist noted.
Russia is heavily invested in undermining trust in Ukraine and disrupting support for Ukraine. In particular, the FSB allocates millions of dollars to external IPSO and political corruption.
“Fico is purely Putin’s victory through political corruption. They found one little “Fico” among the congressmen, they found it somewhere among the prime ministers of Europe. They are trying to knock out individual fragments from the big puzzle of the big Ukrainian victory,” Davidyuk noted.
The Kremlin creates opposition opinions and forces in European countries. And this sometimes makes the situation quite complicated for Ukraine. However, Ukraine has no other scenario but to continue reminding the world about itself.
Problems with the allocation of aid to Ukraine in the United States: what is known
- Congress has not yet made a decision on providing assistance to Ukraine. Back in October, US President Joe Biden proposed combining aid to Ukraine and Israel into one package, but it was not supported.
- The White House is calling on congressmen to urgently vote to allocate funding for Ukraine. After all, the United States will not be able to support our country with weapons if it does not accept the allocation of funds for this.
- At the same time, information appeared that decisions on support for Ukraine and Israel could be made before the end of the year. Senator James Lankford believes this could happen before December 15th.
- Let us note that on December 6, the US Congress is scheduled to vote on the possibility of allocating an emergency foreign aid package. Of the 106 billion, Ukraine should receive 61 billion dollars.
