She is therefore withdrawing from her upcoming appearances in Puccini’s “Turandot” in April and May. Also in the next season she will not play her role in Verdi’s “Don Carlos”. The opera further announced that Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska will sing instead of Netrebko in the opera “Turandot”.
The Russian has also canceled numerous concerts in Germany, for example in Stuttgart. Last year the soprano, who also lives in Vienna, celebrated her 50th birthday with a big gala in the Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
