War in Donbass – a gunman with a submachine gun was detained

Ukrainian servicemen have detained a militant “LPR” on the line of demarcation. With a loaded magazine from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, he moved towards the Ukrainian positions.

The militant was found with a military ID “LPR” and a temporary certificate of a resident of ORDLO. After the arrest of the militant, the Ukrainian servicemen handed him over to the counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine.

What is known about the detainee

He is a native of the Russian Federation who joined illegal armed groups in 2018.

There he was in “positions”:

• arrow,
• assistant grenade launcher of the militant group,
• participated in the shelling of units of the Joint Forces operation, including from the Utes heavy machine gun.

What threatens the detainee

Now the SBU investigators informed the detainee about the suspicion of committing crimes on:

• Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
• Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization);
• Art. 260 (participation in the activities of armed formations not provided for by law);
• Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The question of the choice by the court of a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.
