In the face of their superiority in the number of soldiers and weapons in Donbas, we have the advantage of a professional military leadership and the courage of the soldiers, says Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Maljar in an announcement on Wednesday evening.
According to Maljar, Russia has deployed a large number of soldiers and used large amounts of weapons and equipment in an attempt to break through the Ukrainian defense line.
She also claims that the Russians are suffering significant losses, but that they are not giving up.
One of Russia’s main stated goals in Ukraine is full control of Donetsk, which pro-Russian separatists have had partial control of since 2014.
