“We will go after those who committed yesterday’s crimes. We know them well and we will expose them,” said al-Kadhimi in a statement from his office on Sunday (11/7/2021), quoted Reuters.
The prime minister stopped short of revealing the identities of the alleged attackers.

Three drones were reportedly used in the attack on PM al-Kadhimi’s residence in Baghdad’s Green Zone on Sunday morning local time.

Iraq’s Security Media Cell claimed the drone was a “trap,” and two of the drones crashed. One drone reached the prime minister’s residence and caused damage, and injured members of his security.

Al-Kadhimi was not injured in the incident, and he released a statement shortly after. He called, “Calm down and refrain from everyone for the sake of Iraq.”
