“Wanted to see how it burns” – detains a previously unpunished teenager in a construction car in Kekava

On the morning of August 15, the police received information that a construction wagon had burned in Ķekava. As a result of the fire, both the construction wagon and the belongings in it were burned.

Current information available to the police suggests that the crime is likely to involve one 15-year-old teenager who has not previously come to the attention of the police.

Yesterday, the teenager was recognized as a suspect and invited for an interview.

The investigation revealed that he had entered a construction car, where he noticed the fuel and “wanted to find out how it burned”. The young man poured fuel on the table and lit it with lighters.

The police have initiated criminal proceedings for the deliberate destruction of foreign property. Such a crime is punishable by up to ten years’ imprisonment.

The police have held preventive interviews with the young man.

Police call on parents to remind their children of the possible consequences of committing offenses. From the age of 11, coercive measures of an educational nature can be applied for the committed violations, but from the age of 14, administrative and criminal liability arises.
