Evan Neumann claims to have fled Ukraine for Belarus because he was “persecuted” by local security services.

In a report aired Sunday evening, Belarus 1 interviewed a 48-year-old American named Evan Neumann near the border with Poland.
The man is said to have entered Belarus illegally from Ukraine in August. Arrived in Europe in March, he would then have spent several months in Ukraine, a country he claims to have fled because he was “persecuted” by the local security services.
Evan Neumann is on the FBI wanted list in the United States, where he faces several charges in connection with the assault on the Capitol on January 6. He is notably accused of having attacked the police.

On January 6, 2021, thousands of supporters of Donald Trump stormed the seat of the United States Congress, wanting to prevent elected officials from validating the victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential election.
The FBI report on Mr. Neumann, available on the United States Department of Justice’s website, indicates that according to his LinkedIn profile, the latter would have participated in the “orange revolution” which brought pro-Westerners to power. in Ukraine in 2004 and 2005.
According to this report, he also appears to wear a sash commemorating these events on the day of the Capitol storm.
In a report aired in July, the American channel ABC interviewed a man claiming to have bought the former house of Evan Neumann, and indicating that the latter was in Ukraine.
In the United States, a House of Representatives committee of inquiry has been set up to assess the role played by Donald Trump in the attack by his supporters on the seat of Congress.
