Main Researcher in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Thomas Djamaluddin explained that there were two meteor showers that could be witnessed. Namely the Alpha-Capricornids and Delta-Aquariids meteor showers.
To note, a meteor shower is an astronomical phenomenon that can be observed from the earth in a dark sky. Namely in the form of objects that shine (meteor) in sufficient number and move from a certain point in the sky.
“Its appearance resembles the trajectory of rainwater that falls from the sky,” said lecturer at the Physics Department of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Dr. Bintoro Anang Subagyo when contacted detikJatimThursday (21/7/2022).
According to Bintoro, if you want to observe this phenomenon, you only need a fairly dark sky. For example, in rural areas where the amount of light pollution is still minimal.
“There is no criteria for a special place, it is quite dark and not blocked by any buildings. Meanwhile, the best time to observe it is before dawn,” said Bintoro.
