Spanish top talent Pedri is about to sign a new contract with FC Barcelona. As is customary in Spain, this commitment includes a limited lump sum. For 18-year-old Pedri, Barcelona has set that amount at 1 billion euros, according to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

That means that a club that deposits 1 billion can buy Pedri without having to negotiate with Barcelona. Neymar is currently the most expensive footballer in the world. Paris Saint-Germain paid €222 million to Barcelona for the Brazilian in 2017, with the help of the wealthy Arabs who own the club. That was the amount that was in Neymar’s contract as a limited lump sum.

Pedri broke through at FC Barcelona last season under coach Ronald Koeman. He also became a Spanish international. The midfielder participated with his country in the European Championship and the Olympic Games. Pedri played no fewer than 78 matches in one year. The teenager recently made his return to Barcelona after an injury, but immediately suffered another injury. Pedri’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of this season. He will sign up until the summer of 2026, undoubtedly in exchange for a substantial salary increase.
