REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Although it can have a big impact, stroke can actually be avoided. The trick is to control the risk factors that increase the chance of having a stroke.
“We prevent it from getting hit stroke controlling for risk factors. If you have had a stroke, there is no time, except to go to the hospital immediately,” said the President Director of the National Brain Center Hospital (RSPON) Prof. Dr. dr. Mahar Mardjono Jakarta, dr. Mursyid Bustami, Sp.S (K. ), KIC, MARS, in a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Friday.
Mursyid said, stroke is one of the main health problems in Indonesia with a high mortality rate. The incidence of stroke is increasing every year.
In general, stroke is divided into two types, namely stroke blockage of blood vessels and bleeding stroke (hemorrhagic stroke). The percentage of bleeding strokes from the total incidence of stroke is only about 20 percent, even some literature in other countries records only 15 percent.
The majority of events are strokes blockage of blood vessels. While 70 percent of patients with bleeding strokes complain of headaches, and 60 percent of patients are followed by decreased consciousness, decreased body movements, and seizures.
