Located in André-Gagnon Park, the tree climbing is five minutes from downtown, Chartres. The tree climbing is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Just show up or book at 03.34.40.08.88.
Safety first
In sports style with closed shoes, we were provided with a harness equipped with an intelligent pulley and a lifeline. Younger children are required to wear helmets. Thanks to the smart pulley, it is impossible to detach from the cable before the end of the course.
We then learned about the safety rules via a three-minute video. The facilitators then ensure that the explanations are understood by everyone. Everyone must pass on a mini-course in order to apprehend the material before being perched 20 meters high.
The animators watch over each person in the areas and do not hesitate to come and encourage the most fearful.

The different routes
The park is made up of six courses. It is necessary to measure at least 1 meter 10 to access course one and two. 1 meter 25 for courses two, three and four. Then 1 meter 40 to have access to all the courses.
I then started with course 4 without too much apprehension. Then I was surprised by the first activity. A zipline. When I was thinking of jumping straight, my body froze for a moment. I come to my senses and rush off with both feet. Successful bet, I find the sensations of speed and carelessness. It will take me about ten minutes to complete the course.
Namely that it is possible to do and redo all the routes until 7 p.m., closing time.

Once course 4 is finished, I tackle the sixth. This takes me to the Butte des Charbonniers, the only tree climbing in France passing over a street in the city center. After taking a zipline of a hundred meters I finished course six.
The animators advise me to do course five before leaving. They were right, with Tarzan’s creeper, a leap into the void where you have to catch yourself on a net, this course has become my favorite.

For children an unforgettable experience
I returned to the Accro camp on a Monday afternoon. I was surprised to see so many people. The camp was filled with the screams and laughter of children. A sports center was there with about twenty young people, but also families.
I was able to chat with Louise and Lise, aged 7 and 4. They found the tree climbing “too good, at first it’s a little scary but then you can do it again many times”, without hesitation “the best structure is the zip line! “.
The teams, while supervising the users, ensure that they go to the limit of their abilities by encouraging them if necessary. It is thus possible to create memories of generational sharing, and to weld or create friendly ties. Like Louise who made a friend in a few zipline descents!
