Set traps

Further crocodile surveys will be carried out before the park opens.

– It is estimated that the crocodile is about two meters long. Forest rangers are working with crocodile management teams to remove the animal, Dean MacAdam said in a statement quoted by The Guardian.

MacAdam is responsible for parks in the north at the local ministry.

Forest rangers have set a crocodile trap, and will search for the reptile throughout the night, it is further stated.

The 67-year-old man was initially treated at the scene by a Tasmanian police detective and her family, who were on holiday in the Northern Territory.

He was then treated at a local medical clinic, before being transferred to the Royal Darwin Hospital.

A spokesperson for the hospital states that the man is in a stable condition, according to the Australian national broadcaster Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The “unknown” past is causing a stir

– Gave first aid

The police investigator, whose name is Taneka Starr, says that the alarm went off around 11.30 Monday local time.

– My family and children were swimming in the water when people started shouting that everyone had to get out. We formed a circle to make sure everyone got out, especially the kids. We then saw a man who had injuries to his arm and my sisters and I administered first aid,” Starr said in a statement reported by a number of Australian media outlets, including news.com.au.

– I am so glad that everyone is OK. It was quite a frightening experience, she continues.

To the local newspaper NT News, Starr says that around 80 people were in the water when the attack took place.

Litchfield National Park is located around 115 kilometers south of the city of Darwin. Wangi Falls is closed for part of the year due to crocodile activity.
