BEIJING, Feb 19 (Reuters) – The United States must repair the damage caused by the indiscriminate use of force to the China-U.S. relationship, Chinese diplomacy chief Wang Yi has told his U.S. counterpart Antony Blinken. announced Sunday the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Wang Yi told Antony Blinken that Washington should reconsider its position on the recent “so-called airship incidents”, the ministry said in a statement.
The United States shot down what Washington suspected was a spy balloon but Beijing described as a civilian balloon for weather observation.
Wang Yi and Antony Blinken met, at the request of the United States, for an informal discussion on the sidelines of the annual Munich Security Conference, the statement said. (Report Dominique Patton; French version Camille Raynaud)
