Natsuo Yamaguchi revealed after the meeting that regarding the discharge of treated water from Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea, Wang Yi expressed the hope that Japan could create opportunities for China to independently monitor and suggested that the two sides could find a common path from a scientific perspective. Yamaguchi asked China to lift measures restricting the import of Japanese aquatic products.

Natsuo Yamaguchi led a delegation to visit China on Wednesday (22nd). This is Yamaguchi’s second visit to China after four years. The last time was in August 2019. He originally planned to visit China in August this year, but it was postponed due to China’s opposition to the discharge of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear treatment water into the sea.

When Yamaguchi held talks with Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and secretary of the Central Secretariat, he asked China to lift the ban on aquatic products.
