Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan will attend the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Brasilia as President Xi Jinping’s special envoy.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular news conference on Thursday that Wang will lead a delegation to Brazil at the invitation of the Brazilian government to attend the inauguration on Jan. 1, 2023.
China and Brazil are both major developing countries and important emerging economies, as well as global strategic partners, Wang Wenbin said. Wang Qishan’s trip reflects the great importance China attaches to Brazil and bilateral relations. The visit will actively strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil, benefit both countries and peoples, help safeguard regional and global peace and stability, and promote shared prosperity.
