On November 25, the finals of the 2023 Chinese Music Young Singer TV Competition were held in Beijing. Mezzo-soprano singer Wang Chunlan from Dafeng District, Yancheng City, won the best singing award with her song “The Beautiful Night of the Prairie”.
In fact, Wang Chunlan has exceeded the contestant age originally stipulated in the competition. During the nationwide auditions for the Chinese Music Young Singer TV Competition, Wang Chunlan heard about it and took the initiative to sign up on the recommendation of a friend, hoping to make an exception for her to participate in the Yancheng competition. After asking for permission, the organizer made an exception and held a special show to open up the channel for her to rise. As one of the most powerful singers, she stood out from the competition and finally entered the top ten in the Yancheng Division after three rounds of eliminations. Later, three outstanding players from Yancheng participated in the national finals, and Wang Chunlan was one of them.
Wang Chunlan said that she liked singing since she was a child. After work, she often went to Dafeng Cultural Center and Cultural Palace to study, and asked teachers for music knowledge and singing skills. She also bought relevant music books, conducted self-study, and kept practicing singing, always singing for several hours every day. In the Dafeng “Starlight Stage” singing competition, she won the first prize in the young singer competition. She said that she had never participated in live competitions outside of Dafeng before. Now that her life is better and more relaxed, she wanted to fulfill her dream when she was young, so she participated in the Chinese Music Young Singer TV Competition.
Wang Chunlan could not suppress her excitement when being interviewed by reporters: “Dreams are the most beautiful, and hope follows you. Anyone can pursue their dreams at any time, and there is no age limit for highlights.”
