“WandaVision” shows the final birth of a new Marvel heroine. But we won’t really see them in action until an upcoming MCU film.
– Attention: This is followed by spoilers for episode 7 of “WandaVision” –
The end of the seventh episode of “WandaVision” made the next reveal at the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). After the big performance of Evan Peters as Quicksilver, this time it was up to Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) to create surprised and questioning faces. After all, she is in truth the well-known Marvel character Agatha Harkness. But those weren’t the only MCU debuts in “WandaVision”.

We’re talking about Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), whose superpowers were increasingly hinted at in the last few episodes (see below). In episode 7, the final transformation from Rambeau to a superhero followed. What it will be called is still unclear. Monica went by the names Pulsar, Spectrum, Photon and even Captain Marvel in the comics. Because her mother Maria (Lashana Lynch) is the aviator nickname „Photon“ and “WandaVision” reminded us of it with a picture of her, the obvious conclusion is that Monica will choose this alias for herself.
Monica Rambeau returns in “Captain Marvel 2”, which is doubly interesting
Even if her name is unclear, we already know what powers Monica now has: She can perceive and manipulate all energy on the electric-magnetic spectrum. That explains her special, blue-tinged view of Westview, in which she just saw the energy around her. This is represented by a clear blue coloration of the eyes. In addition, she was already using a burst of energy to cushion her fall after Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) had thrown her into the air.
It remains to be seen whether Monica will show all her powers in “WandaVision”. Since her skills are still fresh, it’s quite likely that we won’t see the new Marvel heroine until „Captain Marvel 2“ can be seen fully in action. In the upcoming MCU movie she will definitely play a role with Carol Danvers alias Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), as Parris already revealed. That should be interesting for several reasons, after all, Carol and Monica last saw each other in the 90s and Monica didn’t react happily in “WandaVision” when Captain Marvel was mentioned in episode 5. So the two should have a lot to clarify. We don’t even know if Carol knows about the death of her best friend Maria.
You can not only look forward to “Captain Marvel 2” in the future of the MCU:
