The Walt Disney The Company donated US$ 2 million or around US$ 31.38 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,692 per US dollar, part of humanitarian aid to Israel.
“After the horrific terrorist attacks targeting Jewish people in Israel last weekend, we must all do what we can to support innocent people who are experiencing so much suffering, violence and uncertainty – especially children,” said Walt Disney Chief Executive Officer Robert A Iger in a statement uploaded to the company’s official website, Friday (10/11).
The company, continued Iger, condemned Hamas’ attacks on Israel.
“We condemn these attacks, the hatred that motivates them, and all acts of terrorism. We will continue to seek more ways to provide support in the region, and to honor the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this war ,” he said.
In detail, Disney donated US$1 million to Magen David Adom, an affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies which provides emergency medical services and blood banking in Israel.
Then, the remaining US$1 million goes to other non-profit organizations working in the area, especially those that focus on providing assistance to children.
Israel launched aggression on Gaza and declared war with the Palestinian military group on October 7.
During the aggression, Israeli troops attacked a number of public facilities such as hospitals, mosques, churches, schools and refugee camps.
As a result of the attack, the Ministry of Health in Hamas-controlled Gaza reported that at least 11 thousand Palestinians died. A total of 4,506 victims were children.
