Walmart works a membership to compete with Amazon Prime

NY – Walmart confirmed today that it is developing a loyalty program with which it intends to compete with the gigantic Amazon Prime membership.

The company declined to give details, but a spokeswoman said it will be called Walmart +.

The Vox news site was the first to report the news of the new Walmart membership program and said the retail store will offer certain benefits that the online sales leader does not have. Vox added that the store in Bentonville, Arkansas, will publicly test the program starting in March.

Walmart confirmed the initiative while in a tough competition with Amazon to deliver packages faster and faster to its customers. Amazon Prime membership – at a cost of $ 119 a year – includes benefits such as unlimited deliveries in one day on more than 10 million items, as well as music platforms and for watching streaming series and movies.

Walmart Inc. recently launched a program that offers its customers the option of paying $ 98 per year or $ 12.95 per month to receive their purchases the same day at almost 2,000 stores in the United States.
