Wallbox and Uber expand their alliance across the United States and plan to follow suit in Canada and Europe

The Catalan electric charger company Wallbox and Uber have announced the expansion of their alliance throughout the United States with the aim that the firm’s drivers can acquire and install chargers at home at a reduced price.

A few months after starting their collaboration in the California Bay Area, Uber and Wallbox are expanding their collaboration so that all drivers in the United States can have a Wallbox charger for electric vehicles at a discount.

The extension will be done in four phases and will cover the entire United States by the end of April this year. In addition, the two companies are finalizing a worldwide collaboration agreement that would begin to be deployed in Europe and Canada.

The deployment in the United States is planned to take place in four phases; the first, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle, in January; the second, Phoenix, New York and Boston, in February; the third, the Midwest and Southeast, in March; and the last phase, in the rest of the country (except Alaska) in April.

In addition, Uber supports this collaboration by providing a “Zero Emissions” incentive to all drivers of all-electric vehicles that allows drivers to earn an extra dollar on each trip, limited to $4,000 annually and until December 31, 2022.

The general director of Wallbox in North America, Douglas Alfaro, explained that “the success of the pilot program in the California Bay area is an example of the demand that exists in the United States towards sustainable mobility”.

For his part, the senior vice president of Mobility and Commercial Operations of Uber, Andrew Macdonald, has pointed out that “this agreement with Wallbox helps drivers to have access to a charger for electric vehicles more economical and accessible, and we are very proud to do bring these benefits to more drivers”.
