Wall Street Stocks Fall on Rising Credit Card Debt and Inflation Concerns

Wall Street

US stock indices closed lower on Wednesday, in the wake of a report showing that Americans borrowed more than ever with credit cards in the previous quarter, and on the eve of inflation data that may influence the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions.

The US consumer price index for July is expected to rise slightly year-on-year on Thursday, and to rise 0.2 percent month-on-month as in June.
