Walking boots on the feet and creativity in the head: “Straps artists” make the most of the lockdown

Christophe was not always happy in his life. He lost his father as a teenager and has been at home for months with an arm injury. But the construction worker does not give up. Last year he walked 100 kilometers during the hottest week for a non-profit organization that helps with grief. His feet were broken, but since then he has had the walking bug.

It does me good. I can turn the switch and … walk.

After a while he accidentally discovered that you can also walk figures, for example animals. The day before yesterday he walked a feat for everyone in the healthcare sector. He left AZ Groeinghe and it took more than 12 hours. A thank you that can count.

His walk forms on Strava, a sports smartphone application, “thank you”. It is a message to healthcare personnel. “It was a tough trip, because there was a lot of wind, but I absolutely wanted to do it. That way I can say thank you to the people from the healthcare sector. They really deserve that.”

He can go back to work at the end of this month. Despite this, he still has a specific walking ambition. He hopes one day to walk the names of his wife and children together.

The predilection to draw digital figures while walking or cycling has already been done several times in the recent past, as you can see in the examples below. Political messages also find their way out in this way, as the very last example below shows.

A creation by Andy Pardy. A Brit from Exeter who is against Brexit.
