“Walking 15 Minutes a Day: Study Shows Positive Impact on Memory and Concentration”

Walking 15 minutes a day could positively revolutionize our lives: according to the results of a recent study.

The specifics of the research can be found on Scientific Reports, in a publication prepared by researchers at the University of Victoria in Canada, who carried out experiments on a group of young people.

Walking and going for a walk is good, and so far scientific studies shouldn’t be needed to understand it. Of course, when we talk about lifestyles and indications for staying healthy, we cannot limit ourselves to “popular” theories, which is why scholars go on to carry out observations and experiments.

We must then pause to think that the our company is having a moment of profound changes inherent in all aspects of existence: fromdiet to the cure of diseases, passing through the habits daily and others suffer from climate change and urbanization.

In summary, we spend much more time in contact with the walls of home or office, in front of screens and using technological tools rather than in the midst of Nature.

A part is given technology it has improved our lives it is also true that it has triggered other effects: it is no coincidence that many specialists speak of “evils of modernity“, referring to obesity, tumors, neurodegenerative diseases and also psychiatric pathologies.

From here, and perhaps from many other ethical-scientific ideas, part lo study carried out in Canadawho then developed the following results.

Walking 15 minutes a day increases memory and concentration, but pay attention to the modalities

Let’s start immediately by saying that the search carried out by team of experts and in particular by Dr. Katherine Boere, PhD student at the laboratory of theoretical and applied neurosciencesconcerned a group of young people.

The purpose was not only to check the benefits on one’s brain functions 15 minute walkbut also of the difference between walking outdoors and indoors.

The team did walk 30 participants to study, i.e. university students with an average age of 20; in some sessions, inside the university premises and in others outside, in the park. By doing these walks every other daythe young people were then subjected to electroencephalogram it’s at test to measure memory skills and concentration.

I results are eloquent: brain function was great on outdoor walkswhile the movement carried out indoors did not bring any benefit.

This makes us think a lot about the fact that Nature, free of charge, offers us everything we need to feel good. Even without “demonizing” gym training, treadmill training or home exercise, it is clear from this study that performing even a short walking outdoors brings many more benefits.
