Walker Rescued After Disorientation

irish Mountain Rescue: Walker Safely Rescued in Galtee ‌Mountains

A hiker lost and disoriented in‌ ireland’s challenging Galtee Mountains was successfully rescued Thursday evening thanks to the swift action ⁤of ​the South East ⁢Mountain ‍Rescue Association (SEMRA).

The rescue operation began around‍ 5:40 p.m. after ⁢local authorities, the Gardaí, ‌contacted ​SEMRA for assistance. Poor ​visibility is believed to have contributed to the walker’s disorientation.

In a‌ social media ⁣update, SEMRA detailed the‍ rescue: “The ‌team responded to the Black Road and the first⁤ of the ⁢team Land Rovers was making its way up ⁣the track at 18.15pm.” They further ‌explained,”The walker’s ⁣position ⁣was confirmed‌ by ⁤a phone find and team members made their ⁤way to⁣ the location.”

SEMRA team members safely escorted the walker back to their ⁤waiting ⁤vehicles on ​the⁣ Black Road.The hiker was then transported to the ​car park, concluding the operation around​ 8:00 p.m.⁤ All rescue personnel returned ⁢safely.

This incident highlights the importance of ⁢preparedness when venturing into challenging terrain,especially in conditions with limited visibility. hikers are urged to check weather forecasts,‌ inform​ others of​ their plans, and carry appropriate safety equipment.
