TEMPO.CO, Solo – Wali Kota Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that he had communicated with the Chairman of the PDIP DPP Mrs. Empress before the announcement as Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate. However, he was reluctant to explain in detail his membership status in the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP).
“I communicated with Mbak Puan on Friday (20 October 2023),” said Gibran when met by media crew at Solo City Hall, Monday, 23 October 2023.
Apart from Puan, he also admitted that he had met Arsjad Rasjid, who is currently the Chair of the National Presidential Prize Winning Team (TPN GP). “I have met Mbak Puan and also Mr Arsjad,” he added.
When asked to confirm whether he was currently still a PDIP cadre, Gibran again answered that he had met Puan and Arsjad.
“I have communicated with Mbak Puan and Mr Arsjad, that’s all my answer,” he emphasized.

It was discussed whether the meeting was also about saying goodbye to Mr PDIP, Gibran did not clearly reveal the answer. He said Puan had also told him that when she was in Surabaya.
“Ms. Puan, have you also told me about your time in Surabaya?” he said.
Nominated by another party automatically leaves
Regarding this, previously, the Chair of the Solo City PDIP DPC, FX Hadi Rudyatmo or Rudy, once stated that if a PDIP cadre then runs or is nominated through another party, that cadre will automatically leave the PDIP. But he said this was a common occurrence and there were many examples. From PDIP itself, Rudy said he had no problem with that.
“For the party (PDIP), it’s already clear. If you have joined PDIP, if you are nominated by another party, you will automatically (leave). So, who is nominating, where, for what purpose. Rudy confirmed that if it turns out that Gibran later decides to accept to be Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate, who is in fact a different political party, Gibran will not have to resign but will automatically leave PDIP. It is known that Gibran joined the PDIP cadre on September 1 2019.
“There’s no need to leave or resign, if you’ve changed parties you’ll automatically (leave) yo. “If you want to resign, or hand back your KTA (membership card) that’s also fine,” he explained.
However, when met again at the Solo Perhutani Building, Sunday evening, October 22 2023, Rudy was reluctant to comment when asked about Gibran who had officially become vice presidential candidate and was paired with Prabowo.
