WALHI West Java Campaigns to Restore the Earth Through Real Action

BOGOR NEWS – April 22 is celebrated every year as Earth Day. His warning is a moral imperative for all humans to work together to recover the Earth from the effects of environmental damage.

Earth Day Commemoration is not a ceremonial or event but a real action.

The Indonesian Forum for the Environment (WALHI) in 28 regions has moved to intensify the Restore Earth and Restore Indonesia campaign. Likewise, WALHI West Java has intensified its recovery of West Java through concrete actions.

“We take real action as a form and attitude to remind that all human beings need to have an attitude that it is important together to save the earth, especially the West Java region,” said Wahyudin, WALHI West Java Advocacy and Campaign Manager.

WALHI West Java invites all people to love the earth with a taste, not with greed. “One of the efforts to love the earth to save the earth can be started from ourselves, awareness of environmental sustainability which is good for the sake of our lives is one of the main things,” he said.

In addition, Wahyudin added, our critical stance is urging the Jokowi government to stop exploring coal mines, stop building coal-fired power plants, stop changing the function of areas and land for infrastructure development.

“What’s more, stop the infrastructure development plan that does not represent the needs and interests of the public at large, such as the Sentul Selatan Karawang Barat toll road and the second peak route, excavation activities and other forms of activity that cause damage to land and land in the West Java region. “KEK and PSN West Java have been surrounded by infrastructure development, which of course will change the function of the area,” he said.

WALHI West Java also conveyed to the Government of West Java Province and 26 Regencies and Cities. “Pemprov. West Java is supposed to stop industrial activities that consume coal fuel. such as PLTU, cement factory and some industries that consume coal fuel, “he said.

WALHI West Java also asks the City and District Governments in West Java to defend their regions by not issuing permits for mining activities, building hotels, villas and others that will change the function of the area.

“Changing the function of the area will have an impact on the carrying capacity and the environment,” and this certainly has an impact on the stability of the earth, “concluded Wahyudin.

A glimpse of the Earth

Earth (Tellus / Telluris or Terra, Gaia) is the third planet from the Sun which is the densest planet and the fifth largest of the eight planets in the Solar System. Earth is also the largest of the four terrestrial planets of the Solar System. Earth is sometimes called the world or the Blue Planet.

In modern English, the noun earth is developed from the Middle English word erthe (recorded in 1137), which comes from the Old English word eorthe (before 725), while the word itself comes from the Proto-Germanic word * erthō.

Earth has a relative word in all other Germanic languages, including aarde in Dutch, Erde in German, and jord in Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian. Earth is the parable of the Germanic pagan goddess (or Jörð in Norse mythology, mother of the god Thor).

In Indonesian, the word bumi comes from the Sanskrit bhumi, meaning land, and is always written in capital letters (“Bumi”), to refer to the planet Earth, while “bumi” in lower case refers to the surface of the world, or land.

Earth formed about 4.54 billion years ago, and life appeared on its surface at least 3.5 billion years ago. The Earth’s biosphere then slowly changes the atmosphere and other basic physical conditions, allowing for the proliferation of organisms

Then there is the formation of the ozone layer, which together with Earth’s magnetic field blocks harmful solar radiation and allows microscopic living things to reproduce safely on land. Physical properties, geological history, and Earth’s orbit allow life to survive.

The Earth’s lithosphere is divided into several rigid segments, or tectonic plates, that experience movement across the Earth’s surface for millions of years. More than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered by water, and the rest consists of continents and islands which have many lakes and other water sources which contribute to the formation of the hydrosphere.

The Earth’s poles are mostly covered in ice; solid ice in Antarctica and sea ice in polar ice packs. The Earth’s interior remains active, with an inner core consisting of solid iron, while the outer core is a fluid that creates a magnetic field, and a thick, relatively dense layer in the mantle.

Earth is home to millions of living things, including humans. The Earth’s mineral resources and other biosphere products contribute to providing resources to support the global human population. (were)
