Waldkirch: New construction project of the Waldkirch housing industry in Eisenbahnstraße completed – eleven barrier-free apartments can be moved into

After a construction period of 18 months, the eleven barrier-free 2-, 3- and 4-room apartments in the new building project at Eisenbahnstrasse 5 can be moved into in January 2021.

Both the Buchholz local council and the housing industry works committee approved the demolition of the former town hall building and a new building with an investment volume of around 2.37 million euros. In addition to the “new center of Buchholz”, the housing industry was able to realize another building project in the redevelopment area.

The architectural office fuchs.maucher.architekten.bda was commissioned to plan the building. In order to achieve the best possible energy savings, the facade was built from insulated masonry bricks. This made it possible to dispense with insulation with polystyrene. The application of the finishing plaster as a “broom line” and the color design of the window reveals give the facade a special appearance.

All apartments have a loggia or terrace and can be reached barrier-free with the elevator. A 2-, 3- and 4-room apartment was built barrier-free. The heating takes place via a pellet heating system, the supply of television programs and internet connection via the W-Net of Stadtwerke Waldkirch. In the interior design of the apartments, particular attention was paid to the sustainability of the materials used. The architecturally appealing new building is rounded off with a playground for the residents’ children.

The construction was funded by the L-Bank in the funding program “Housing BW 2018/2019”. With an average of seven euros / m², the basic rent is therefore 33% below the local comparable rent. The demand for the apartments was great, so all of them have already been taken out. In addition to the existing tenants, interested parties from the waiting list with physical handicaps were taken into account when allocating apartments.
