From August, the Kandelstraße coming from Waldkirch will be closed until probably the end of October due to rock stabilization measures. The Kandelpass can still be approached via the route that leads through the Glottertal.
In the course of the renovation of the state road L186 between Waldkirch and Kandelpass, safety measures are required on the rocky slopes on the mountain side of the road due to the high risk of falling rocks and falling rocks. The district of Emmendingen will carry out these measures from Monday, August 1, 2022 to the end of October 2022 over a distance of around two kilometers. At the same time, the regional council of Freiburg will carry out roadway rehabilitation in the next construction phase of the rehabilitation measure.
For safety reasons and because of the narrow lane width, the entire route from the Waldgasthof Altenbach to the Kandel car park has to be closed to public traffic. The Waldgasthof Altenbach remains accessible when coming from Waldkirch. The Kandelhöhe including the parking lot and the gastronomy remain accessible from the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald. The designated detour leads west via the B294 to Denzlingen, then on the L112 via Glottertal to the Sägendobel. From there, the Kandelhöhe can be reached via the L186. During the full closure, work is also coordinated during the day in such a way that a rescue lane is available for emergency services at short notice.
