What can you expect today?
- The court in The Hague will rule in the case for free contraceptives. Women’s rights organization Bureau Clara Wichmann, among others, demands that the government ensures that contraception is free of charge. For example, the pill should be included in the basic health insurance package again.
- A suspect from Heerlen is on trial before the police judge in Maastricht for threatening the death of outgoing minister Hugo de Jonge on social media. The man was previously jailed for threatening MP Pieter Omtzigt.
- The first major consumer fair since the corona crisis will start at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. The Kampeer en Caravan Fair is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors until Sunday.

Mark Zuckerberg denies whistleblower Frances Haugen’s accusation that Facebook prioritizes profit over user safety. He responded by mail from his own Facebook account.
Haugen joined last weekend outwards in interviews with the American channel CBS and newspaper The Wall Street Journal. She previously worked as a data scientist for the team to combat disinformation on Facebook. In the interviews, she said that, time and again, Facebook chose solutions that would benefit the company the most.
In his Facebook post, Zuckerberg elaborates on Haugen’s claims, which he says “make no sense.” He points out that Facebook invests a lot of money in fighting harmful content: “If we didn’t care about that, why do we employ so many more people fighting this than any other company in our industry?”
