The villagers of Skutare don’t dare blink for the second month and are on duty on the banks of the local Avramitsa River to check if the water level is rising. The reason is that his bed is covered with vegetation and the local population is afraid that the fate of Trilistnik and the villages of Karlov could happen to them in the event of prolonged rains, Mayor Stoyan Dobrev told “Maritsa”. He personally goes several times a day to inspect the trough.
The municipality of Maritsa, under which the village is located, has prepared a project for the cleaning of the river and is awaiting the allocation of funds. Many of these have been done and archived over the years, but to no avail. To protect the country from flooding, the municipality cleared the riverbed with its own funds a few years ago. Today, however, it looks like a jungle again.
“We took pictures with a drone and the picture is terrible, you can’t see there’s a river,” the mayor said. He recalled that the last flood in the village was 4 years ago. So the locals built dams with sacks to hold water in the river bed.
If urgent measures are not taken, Trilistnik’s fate could befall us, Dobrev warned. And he explained that the lowest and most threatened part of the village is the center and the school.
“For two months in the village nothing else has been talked about, people are excited and constantly look at the river. Every day we ask neighboring villages how the situation is and if the level is rising. So far there is no danger, reassures the mayor of Skutare. .
Meanwhile, it became clear that a strong wind was blowing in the villages around Plovdiv this morning. Time has caused problems for agricultural producers by tearing the nylon from the greenhouses.
