Russian President Putin has announced a ‘peace mission’ in Ukraine’s renegade regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. “The armed forces are being instructed to maintain peace there,” Putin said.
That means that Russia becomes militarily active in Ukraine. Last night, Putin recognized the independence of the self-declared People’s Republics of Donetsk (DNR) and Lugansk (LNR). In a statement, the Kremlin wrote that the peace mission follows a request from both republics.
It is not yet clear how large the military deployment will be. on social media circulate images of military columns that would be en route to the region.
