Konstanz. With the podcast “Waiting for …”, Theater Konstanz presents a regular series of discussions on the Internet. In each episode, a person from the Konstanz Theater invites someone from the city to talk. You have an appointment to talk about the world, about constancy and life. With the podcast “Waiting for …”, Theater Konstanz provides exciting perspectives and topics of conversation, it takes up current topics of society and makes them heard literally.

In the 5th episode “Waiting for … the Gay Avenger”, ensemble member Dominik Puhl and activist Julian Kratzer talk about queer utopias: Where are the queer role models in Konstanz? Is there a future waiting for us in which a “Gay Avenger” and boys in clothes are no longer a sensation and outings are superfluous?

The binary gender system: The idea that there are only two opposing genders, namely “male” and “female”. People whose gender characteristics cannot be assigned to either “male” or “female” at birth are called intersex, but this is often only determined long after the birth. Since 2018, in addition to the options “male” and “female”, “diverse” can also be specified in the birth register.
queer: Translated means something like “strange” or “strange” and today, very flexibly, depicts many perspectives that understand each other outside of a heteronormative society. This can include sexual orientation, gender identity, but also relationship types and sexual preferences. In a heteronormative society, the binary gender system, cis gender and heterosexuality are the norm, deviations are pathologized and punished.
