Chairman of Commission D DPRD DKI Jakarta Ida Mahmudah asked the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta to take over the management of the Athlete’s Village. So, after no longer being a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, Athlete’s House not empty so ‘kuntilanak’s nest’.
“We have succeeded at the Grass Market, now we have added the Athlete’s House, instead of being stalled, it has been empty for a long time,” said Ida during a work meeting at Commission B DPRD DKI Jakarta, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/2/ 2023).
Ida said that she had a discussion with the late DKI Regional Secretary Saefullah so that the Athlete’s Village would be used as a COVID-19 handling hospital. Until finally the idea was accepted.
If the proposal is accepted, Ida suggested that part of the floor of the Athlete’s House could be used as a hospital. While the rest is used for residential residents.
“I think there’s nothing wrong with the DKI Regional Government processing it for us to request, make flats on top of it, we build a hospital underneath, a children’s hospital, we need it,” he said.
The PDIP politician asked the Provincial Government led by Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono not to feel shy about the central government. This is because a similar condition occurred at the Grass Market which was built by the PUPR Ministry but managed by the DKI Provincial Government.
“I think Mr Assistant, we don’t need to be prestigious, this DKI regional government, right? The central government is our parents, we have succeeded in the Grass Market,” he explained.
Government response
Head of DKI Jakarta People’s Housing and Residential Area Office, Sarjoko, believes that the management plan for the Athlete’s House can be realized. However, it is necessary to study the plans and mapping of housing around the Athlete’s Village.
“Regarding the discourse on Wisma Athletes, we ask that with a plan to use it as a flat or to compile it with hospital services, of course this is very possible,” said Sarjoko in a working meeting at the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/2/2023) .
However, Sarjoko said that his party did not yet know the market share of that location. Therefore, it could not identify further.
“However, we haven’t been able to take pictures because so far we have never identified the need for flats around there,” he explained.
