Pep Guardiola eager to play Sergio Aguero against Everton this week. He hopes Aguero is fit to start.
Aguero will play his last game at Premier League with City when entertaining Everton at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday (23/5/2021) evening WIB. Aguero’s contract was no longer extended because the player wanted to find a new challenge.
Indeed, there is still a Champions League final at the end of this month against Chelsea, which could be a sweet release for Aguero. However, Aguero’s chance to play in that match is quite small.
So the match week 38 of the Premier League is the best chance for City and the fans at the stadium to officially release Aguero. Moreover, there will be a session to hand over the Premier League trophy at the end of the match.
Aguero, who won the Premier League five times and scored 182 goals in that event, certainly doesn’t want to miss this emotional match. But, the problem is, Aguero has missed City’s last two matches due to a muscle injury.
The injury was also a force Sergio Aguero more have been in the treatment room than on the pitch this season. Therefore, Guardiola hopes that Aguero is fully fit so he can start against Everton.
“We will decide tomorrow (Saturday). He will play as hard as he can. He trained today and also briefly yesterday,” Guardiola was quoted as saying AFP.
“Seeing a quality player like him, what else do you want to add the statistics to ?,” he continued.
“His performance is incredible when he is fit. I am sure the 10,000 fans in the stadium will show the whole world and pay tribute and respect for his contribution to this club, in terms of titles, goals, performance – outstanding.”
“When he is fit and can continue to play, he is like Romario in Brazil. He is a penalty box, like a lion in the forest. He is very fast and has the quality to score goals. As long as he can play, he will definitely score goals.”
