Due to the continued shortage of the Xbox Series X and the rising prices of the PS5, many players of this generation of gaming consoles have turned into the “waiting party”, wanting to wait for the supply and the price to stabilize before to buy.
However, the recent rumors have many “waiting parties” falling into anxiety, worried that they will wait for the next generation of gaming consoles before the price is cut.
Fortunately, according to the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) ongoing investigation into Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the released documents, this generation of consoles still has a long life remaining.
Judging by the filing, regarding the possible impact of the Activision Blizzard acquisition on gamers’ choice of game consoles, Microsoft stressed that the two sides do not dispute that some gamers may reevaluate the choice of game console purchases when the new generation of game consoles is launched. But it also notes that this is an event that occurs roughly every eight years and that the next generation of consoles shouldn’t be released until fall 2028.
The contract with Activision Blizzard provided by SONY also shows that at least “Decisive Moment” will be available on PlayStation until the end of 2027. From a conventional point of view, this time basically corresponds to the release time of the console manufacturer’s next-generation game.
From this point of view, whether it’s Microsoft or SONY, the next generation of video game consoles won’t be launched before 2028. For the “wait and see”, there is still plenty of time.
