Jakarta CNBC Indonesia – The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) hopes that the government’s plan to limit the purchase of Pertalite fuel oil (BBM) can be implemented in the near future.
This follows the revision of the Presidential Regulation (PERPRES) Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Supply, Distribution and Retail Prices of Petroleum Fuel (BBM), including the technical instructions for the purchase of subsidized fuel and the assignments that should be completed in January-February this year.
“I think there are really many aspects to consider. Therefore the revision of Perpres must wait for what is regulated therein to be materially and essentially re-checked. We discussed it with interested parties. Our hope is that this January-February will be issued,” BPH member Migas Saleh Abdurrahman told CNBC Indonesia’s Energy Corner, quoted on Tuesday (10/1/2023).
According to Saleh, the review process of Perpres himself has essentially been completed. However, his party still awaits the approval of President Joko Widodo for the immediate implementation of the regulation.
“So basically it’s clear, but obviously the president has his own considerations on various aspects. So it’s good that we wait for the issue of Perpres, that’s all I can answer,” he said.
Previously, it was said that a number of vehicle criteria would be barred from using Pertalite fuel, including luxury vehicles with engine criteria for 1,400 cars. Cubic centimeter (CC) and above and 250 CC motors.
If the Perpres review has been issued, it is stipulated that people who are eligible to refuel Pertalite and subsidized Solar will need to register on the MyPertamina website.
Subsequently, by registering, the Pertamina service station will know whether or not the vehicle is authorized to refuel with Pertalite and subsidized solar fuel.
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif earlier said that discussions on the revision of Presidential Regulation 191/2014 have returned to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and are currently under discussion.
“Restrictions (fuel on target), now it’s back to ESDM and now we will discuss it. This has already been proposed, it was just this morning on my desk, we want to discuss it, next week,” he said, quoted on Friday (6/1 /2023).
Unfortunately, he was unable to disclose the proposals, specifically which vehicles will be banned from refueling with Pertalite. “Proposals are anyone who gets the right classification,” he added.
