Wagon in an accident on the E6 – warns of difficult driving conditions

A lorry train lost traction and slammed into a guardrail on the E6 at Moss. Motorists are advised to be careful on Thursday.

Published:

Early Thursday morning, 911 services traveled to Moss, where a lorry train had slammed into a guardrail.

The accident occurred on the southbound E6 before the Mosseporten exit.

– The driver exited Oslo, lost traction and crashed into the guardrail on the left. About 20 meters of the guardrail was removed and the train crossed into the right-hand lane, operations manager Gisle Sveen tells VG.

A field is open, but the road will probably be temporarily closed for a period due to reclamation work. It is not known when the road will reopen.

No injuries were reported, according to Sveen.

I ask motorists to be careful

The Swedish Road Traffic Center has he asked motorists in several locations across the country to be careful on Thursday and the next few days.

There is a warning against snow cover in the mountains of southern Norway on Thursday, before the weather improves early Friday. Wednesday’s snowy weather turns to sleet and rain on Thursday and can make for challenging driving conditions.

The Meteorological Institute has also issued a warning of strong winds in parts of Trøndelag and northern Norway. This applies to Thursday and Friday.

– There is a great danger that the mountain passes could be closed, with convoys and long waiting times, road traffic operator Tommy Aufles told VG on Wednesday.

– It is recommended that if you do not have to go out and drive, stay calm.

State of the mountain passes

Thursday morning, 06:00, the state of the southern Alpine passes is as follows:

  • Fv53 Årdal – Tyin: Closed
  • E16 Filefjell: Open
  • Rv52 Hemsedalsfjellet: Open
  • Fv50 Hol-Aurland: Open
  • Rv13 Vikafjellet: Closed
  • Rv7 Hardangervidda: Driving in column for cars over 7.5 tons. (Closed for passenger cars)
  • E134 Haukelifjell: Driving in column

If you have to drive in traffic, a full tank or fully charged battery on the electric car is a good start to successful driving, NAF wrote in a press release on Thursday morning.

– As a motorist, driving in a queue is one of the most challenging things you can experience, says NAF consultant Jan Harry Svendsen.
