Jakarta –
Wagner’s mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin killed in a plane crash in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin expresses condolences on the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“Sincere condolences to the families of all the victims,” Putin said as reported by AFP, Friday (25/8/2023).
Putin described the accident as a tragedy. Apart from Prigozhin, nine other people on board also died.
Putin’s statement was the first official confirmation that Wagner’s boss had been killed.
For information, the plane crash occurred on Wednesday (23/8) night, exactly two months after Prigozhin led an uprising against Moscow military officials. He is considered by some observers to be the biggest threat to Putin’s old government.
Although Moscow opened an investigation into the violation of air traffic regulations, investigators have remained silent as speculation of a possible murder has grown.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insisted Kiev had nothing to do with the incident. He alluded to the figure to blame for the death of the Wagner boss.
“I think everyone knows who he cares about,” he added, apparently referring to Putin.
